Home for themselves in the Belarusian style, it makes us think about what can be called the Belarusian style and how to apply it in practice. To figure it out, we decided to delve into the history and try to understand how our ancestors lived, their surroundings, and how their life has been built. In the process of analysis, we have identified several characteristics for the Belarusian hut, in the context of the use of certain materials and guidelines (rushnyk, shalevka, stove, natural materials in the decoration, shutters) - these "anchors" have enabled us to more clearly formulate the concept.
The main idea
As a result of our analysis, we concluded that the main "heart" of every Belarusian hut was a stove. In Belarusian culture of life, oven played an important role - it is primarily a center, a symbol of warmth and stability, our ancestors believed that if the coals in the stove will go out - there will be trouble, it confirms the symbolic importance of the furnace in the consciousness of Belarusians. Indeed stove was the main, a multifunctional space in the house. On the stove was asleep, it was used for heating, cooking, drying, mushrooms and so on.Accordingly, in our project, oven is a symbolic and functional center of the home, combines the kitchen, dining room, place for recreation.
We decided to use the characteristics for the Belarusian hut (towel, shutters, shalevka, natural materials, decoration) ,but interpret them in the plane of modern culture, as we are inspired by the traditions, in search and try to create a new Belarusian style for the modern man.Our project - is just a small step in the long road to understanding and creating a new, degenerated Belarusian style.
